Hostiness and Curiosity

What is the key to hostiness? The latest scientific research may be of help. From your friendly neighborhood Skepchick.

Submitted by sudokuguy on September 20, 2007 - 11:45pm.

..not looking through the previous comments, I guess it's already been said, many times: if you haven't added the Skeptic's Guide to your podcast itinerary (or checked Rebecca's blog) please get with the program. where the heck have you been already?

Rebecca has established herself as a unique voice of straight talk, interest and amusement in an otherwise dull and unreasonable world (NPR aside).

Count me among her numerous fans. I want and need to hear more from this Skepchick.

I wish I'd found this earlier. Very simply, I liked everything about it. Well done and good luck.

What a great entry. You are so smooth, but your content is quite quirky. The combo of the two really held my attention. Great writing!

OK, since you want to know why we listened to you: I listened because in one of your posts you talked about being in Cambridge, and I'm just naturally curious about what others here are submitting. Why I enjoyed listening: You've got a fun sense of humor, you're able to take science seriously and have fun with it at the same time, and you've got a nice, voice that you use well and naturally, with no attempt to pull fancy "hosty" vocal tricks. I'd definitely listen to more. Good luck!

Hosty with the mosty, definitely.

Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying "End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH,"
the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Rebecca, you're hot and hosty! Good luck with your audition. I gave you all the stars I could!

You're awesome, Rebecca! This weekend, I'll have a drink in your honor while thinking of my wife. Or I'll have a drink in my wife's honor while thinking of you. I think it's the same thing.

I laughed out loud, while drinking of course ;). Good luck!

because I'd definitely like to know more, experience more, and hear more of Rebecca! Hopefully NPR will make that happen. Good luck!

Yay science! I'll drink to that!

I just had to follow Rebecca's orders to join her in a drink - it was tough reaching the bottle rolling around in the back seat, but traffic's moving pretty slow right now.

I guess I'll forgive her for the Colbert-ization of "Hostiness".

5-Stars - when do you start the new NPR Skepchick Show?

Submitted by rebecca on May 24, 2007 - 9:50am.

How am I going to host a radio show when I'm jailed for enabling drunk drivers!? Hm, wait a second: broadcasting behind bars? That idea has legs. Thanks!

...you're clearly a very hosty person, but it's 9:45a and I've just had a Scarlett O'Hara- all thanks to you. Who's going to clean the house now?

Lovely voice + nice pacing + "driveway moment" subject = a very fast two minutes. Good job!

Submitted by rebecca on May 22, 2007 - 12:14pm.

Thanks! As soon as I figure out what this "clean the house" thing means, I'll offer some advice.

Can you get any scientific data on the benefits of being sedentary? Cause, I've been sitting here for hours listening and reading. (drinking ginger peach iced tea though.)
