Compromise I think most everyone will agree with

I've taken a look at the other finalists, and I have to say, I think all of them should get a show on NPR. (Except for Komal, that is - unless she can do her show from my bedroom where I'd prefer she be at all times.)

What we should do is eliminate pretty much every other show on NPR. I don't know their names - as far as I am concerned, they could all be renamed "interminable pablum, show number one through x."

That being said - after I've totally discredited myself with NPR - Chuck Mertz is in another league altogether from the rest of the hosts. None of the others provide a forum for some of the world's best minds (who for some reason don't get much opportunity to spread their knowledge and perspectives). With Mertz and friends having 4 hours a week on NPR, the United States may yet evolve out of its current status as a parochial, intellectual backwater of a country, into a... a... OK, it will still be a parochial intellectual backwater of a country, but at least there would be a light in the swamp.
