Political ads from my 2004 run for the Iowa State Senate

I ran a low budget race against a Republican State Senate opponent who had almost unlimited resources. I made my own radio commercials to respond to his professionally produced attack ads.

I just don't see this as an NPR show I'd listen to.

Tom,

I wanted to hear some hostiness in your two-minute, but it was so specific to the battle you were engaged in at that point in time.

What would you do on your NATIONAL talk show?

Steve

I believe in philosophic conversation, and I believe you should believe in it too.

Steve,

"English Only" is part of the national debate on immigration. It feels like the United States wants to deny its immigrant heritage AND deny that the new immigrants are playing an important role in our economy and in our society.

We also need to talk about the relationship between the U.S. and Mexico, and the U.S. and Central America. Maybe we need to consider offering statehood to in the U.S. to all countries between here and the Panama Canal.

I misread your statement and thought for a minute that you WERE a Republican candidate, and thought "A Republican interested in public radio! Sign the man up!!!" Alas, you're not as rare as I thought ;-) I do know a WA State Representative who started as a talk show host and then ran for office; it's fun to see a former public office holder run for talk show host.

Nice ad, I like it.
