I grew up in NC and graduated with a degree in journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill. I've worked as a medical writer, editor, and journalist for the past 15 years. I also write screenplays and plays as a creative outlet. I've lived in NYC, LA, Boston, Providence, and the Berkshires. I've traveled throughout the US, Europe, South America, and Thailand for my work.

I live in Mebane, NC with my husband, who is a medical illustrator, and our beloved beagle, Chelsea, who reminds me everyday how important it is to be silly.

I love to read, cook, travel, listen to NPR and music, take long walks, watch movies, and follow pop culture.

I bake a mean cake.

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

The train, which comes through town every few hours. I hear the horn and then the rumbling wheels from across the field behind my house. I used to travel Amtrak a lot between NYC and Boston, and I recognize its whistle. When I hear Amtrak coming through, I think about the people on the train... where they are going and where they've been. It comforts me to hear their journey in progress.

What's your favorite sound memory?

The diving seagulls and crashing waves at Oceanana Pier in Atlantic Beach, NC where I grew up.
