Bio

I was born in Fresno, California in 1945, right at the end of the war. Even though the depression was "long" over, as a family, we continued to live in the depression. The somewhat up-and-coming notion of ABUNDANCE was definitely not a concept in our household. I had four sisters and no brothers. I was a middle child. So now, you know all about me (if you believe in birth order theory!). I studied for the priesthood for ten years and then decided that if I continued toward ordination, my name would be in the paper for running off with either the church secretary or a nun! As it worked out, even though I did leave the seminary, I married a nun!! We were married for twenty seven years before she passed away from cancer. A great loss for me and everyone else. She was a true social justice trooper! I have since married again to Dianna who is a concert pianist and a traveler. I have traveled to places around this country that without her, I would never have gone. I am a licensed Marriage Family Therapist, have my own practice here in this "little" town of Yucaipa, and within the context of my practice, I do a great many things that are " fun" for me and hopefully helpful to the people I serve. When people ask to see my ID, I ask them if they recognize me because I work for the CIA! I guess that is enough for now!

What's your favorite public radio show?

Prairie Home Companion, Scott Simon's show, Wait, wait, don't tell me, and all the news shows that come on throughout the week. I don't store the show titles, but all the interviews are AWESOME. One I do remember is Science Friday.

What's your secret talent?

I am a writer and love it and through a program on NPR recently, I have buckled down and am writing nearly every day for an hour and a half.

"I Feel Pretty," Westside Story--I used two phrases of it in my audition!!
